Over this past week we’ve been working hard to get some new things ready for the Public Test Realm next week. Check out what we’ve been working on below:
Design and Narrative
- Adding “extra” NPCs to Detihauna and making sure the town feels like a place where people live.
- Filling out NPC population in various areas, including in and around shipwrecks on the shore.
- Continuing to add more sharks and other sea life to the waters around Badia de Cara. You can never have enough sharks. Also making sure the sharks are appropriately hungry.
- Finishing up implementing new Wizard abilities and mastery options.
- Starting on implementation of Enchanter mastery.
- Finalizing the designs for Rogue and Ranger mastery.
- Additional tuning and itemization work for levels 1-40.
- More Faerthale planning, including mapping out various class starting locations within the city.
- Continued bug destruction and tuning adjustments.
Worldbuilding and Environment Art
- Working on some additional lighting and atmosphereic touch-ups for various parts of Badia de Cara.
- Optimizing object collision across all of Badia de Cara and the Port of Rulun.
- Starting to work on large environmental props for areas of Faerthale outside the city.
- Continued concepting and asset construction work for Faerthale city.
Character Art and Animation
- Wrap-up work on Badia de Cara NPC models, and picking up a few final things for the zone that have been requested by the design team.
- Continued setting up for test run on universal armor meshes to make sure everything works properly in-game.
- Continuing detailed concepts and building blockouts for Lucent, Ashen, and Ember elf customization options including hairstyles and hair colors.
Programming
- Water-related fixes for Badia de Cara, and preparation for hooking up boats.
- Working on some tools to help the design team move faster.
- Preparing for revisions to core server processes to help improve scalability and performance (this is a large effort and will likely take several months to complete, but is required to enable several important gameplay-related features).
- Refinement work on market system UI (browsing/search window, listing management) and beginning hookups for data connections.
