Greetings all!
The gates to Black Rose Keep are finally opening tomorrow! We’re incredibly excited for you to experience this new dungeon, and in this dev diary, we want to talk about what’s in store, why this release is so important for us, and give you a sneak peek at what we’ll be working on next.
A Difficult Decision, But the Right One
We know many of you were eagerly awaiting Black Rose Keep, and we appreciate your patience with the recent delay. We don’t make delay decisions lightly. For us, a quality release means more than just a smooth launch. It means delivering an experience that’s truly worthy of your time. The extra time allowed us to fix a few key issues, and we’re pretty confident you’ll enjoy the result.
Black Rose Keep is the most complex dungeon we’ve ever built. It brings together everything we’ve learned from Halnir Cave, Mad Run, and our other past content. It’s a true culmination of our vision for Pantheon: a massive, multi-level fortress designed for exploration, cooperation, and challenge. This isn’t just another cave full of monsters. It’s an actual place with deep ties to the lore and history of the world, built to be a challenge you can reside in, contend against and explore with other players.
What’s in Store for Black Rose Keep
Black Rose Keep is an example of the living, breathing world we are trying to create, not something that launches and then grows stale. It’s a fortress, a faction and a story that continues to unfold over time. With such a large and layered dungeon, we know there are still more stories to tell within its walls. Later this fall, we plan to make an addition to Black Rose Keep designed for our level 45+ players. We will also be tuning BRK to adjust for any needed tweaks and fixes that may come up.
In the Silent Plains, the Wildblood Threat Grows
Beyond Black Rose Keep, our next major content delivery will bring the enigmatic Wildbloods of the Silent Plains into the fray.
“Once known for their peacefulness and immense intellect, the Wildbloods have grown increasingly violent and incendiary, as if possessed by an alien will. Their escalating conflicts with neighboring peoples are not of their own making, but rather the stirring of a hunger from unknown origins with an unknown endgame.”
The expanded presence of the Wildbloods and their new point of interest will be a significant addition to the Silent Plains. And for those of you who have seen a smattering of the Wildbloods in certain parts of the Plains, what we are building is much larger and more suitable to represent this smaller, but incredibly important NPC group into the world of Terminus.
The Wildbloods POI is currently in pre-production, with implementation work scheduled to begin as soon as Black Rose Keep is complete. Of course, we’ll leave room in our schedule for any hotfixes that may be needed after the Keep’s release, but we are eager to bring this content to life.
Coming Up: Badia de Cara & Kosa Ull
Finally, we’re excited to share a glimpse into our next major zone: Badia de Cara. This is an ocean-based area south of the Silent Plains, made up of several island regions, with the primary island of Kosa Ull in the center. The surface of this volcanic caldera is home to the Mawnok who thrive among its sprawling jungles, opaline geysers and obsidian sands. And while Kosa Ull is visited on occasion by treacherous Bone Merchants, the true threat lies deep below the surface, a place where no account is written by any explorer, living or dead.
Badia de Cara and Kosa Ull will mark a major step forward for Pantheon. This will be the first area to feature underwater content. The work we are doing here will help us refine these important gameplay systems so that we can use them throughout our game world as we move forward. We can’t wait to show you more as the work continues.
Oh…How About Some Patch Notes?
Who doesn’t love patch notes?! While we finish preparing for BRK release tomorrow, we thought we’d give you a sneak peek at the preliminary patch notes for this major update. Check them out here.
Closing Thoughts
As we prepare for the launch of Black Rose Keep, we are reminded that this journey is about more than just building a game, it’s about building a world that feels alive, dangerous, and worth investing in. Black Rose Keep is a testament to that vision, and we can’t wait to build on it with the Wildblood and Badia de Cara content to come.
Thank you for your patience, passion, and belief in what we’re creating. It’s your feedback and support that truly make all the difference. We’ll see you in Terminus!
Onward and upward,
Chris ‘Joppa’ Perkins
