Developer Live Stream – Character Models, Animations, and Classes

On Thursday, September 15th, 2022 we discussed upgrades to our character models, and dove into Class updates for our upcoming Pre-Alpha sessions. Below are some of what was discussed.

•3D Character and Creature Artist, Tara Solbrig, discussed the need to upgrade the character models for both performance and functionality around armor creation. We saw before and after results of both Human models, female and male, getting them more inline with our concept art, while making them more performant. She discussed working with the team to solve armor fitting, and how it will work in fitting to the character models. She provided an estimated time-line in which we could see the character models for all classes come on line, as well as discussed which races she’d be working on next.

• Character Animator and Rigger, Duarte Ferreira discussed his role in working with Tara’s newly created character models and the process of rigging them. He spoke to reducing the complications of our old rigs, but also making them more controllable with a stronger more performant bone rig. We saw work being done with the facial rigs, as well as casting and sprinting animations.

• In a continuation from last month’s class feature, Senior Designer Adam Mostel ran us through three more of our classes that will be featured in the upcoming Pre-Alpha session. This includes the Rogue, Enchanter, and, our newest class, Cleric.

These are only a few notes from the stream, so make sure to check out the video on-demand on our YouTube page, or the video embedded below to see the changes for yourself.

The Story of the Highly Anticipated MMORPG – Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen was featured in an article for the International Business Times, which discussed the journey of the game’s development. Covering a brief history of MMORPGs and then jumping into the story of Pantheon, the article chronicles the founding of Visionary Realms to recently acquired funding. Below is a small clip from the article:

“Pantheon is a community,” is the mantra of CEO Chris Rowan. “This community isn’t just us at Visionary Realms. It’s all of our families, our friends, Pantheon fans and their friends and families too. We have always felt that camaraderie, that shared goal to get this game made. It’s bigger than any of us now and we have a duty and the honor of realizing its potential.” From this feeling of community Rowan considers it to be of utmost importance that the studio be transparent in its development of Pantheon. Followers are provided with regular newsletters and live streams that report the game’s progress in detail. In an unprecedented move, the studio also opened up pre-alpha sessions for its VIP members to allow for future players to provide feedback. Rowan attests that no other studio in history has allowed as many unaffiliated players to play the game in as early a stage as they have. It is a game that is truly incorporating their community into its development.
