We have identified an issue that is contributing to framerate loss and crashes. This is the source of many of the crashes that players have been reporting recently.

The issue is being caused by a resource leak occurring within the Unity engine.

When this issue is happening, the following errors will be recorded in the Pantheon.log file:

Internal: JobTempAlloc has allocations that are more than the maximum lifespan of 4 frames old - this is not allowed and likely a leakTo Debug, run app with -diag-job-temp-memory-leak-validation cmd line argument. This will output the callstacks of the leaked allocations.

If a crash is about to occur, the following messages will be recorded in the log file:

Invalid memory pointer was detected in ThreadsafeLinearAllocator::Deallocate!

Because this is a resource leak, the impact of it is very dependent on your system and on the visual settings you use when playing Pantheon, as well as on the length of your play sessions. Players who run with higher resolution and higher visual settings and/or who tend to play longer play sessions are more likely to encounter the issue.

There is a fix coming from Unity for this issue. We plan to integrate that fix in our next game update. Because this fix requires an engine update, we do need to perform extensive testing for other potential problems before we can release it to our players.

In the interim, if players are experiencing framerate loss and crashes on a regular basis, here are some things that they can do:
- Lower screen resolution. This will slow down the progression of the resource leak.
- Turn off particle effects or other visual options. This will slow down the progression of the resource leak.
- If you are planning on doing a large-scale fight, consider restarting your client before beginning.
