Just wanted to put this somewhere. An idea I had.
When you reach max level you choose one of two paths.
Become a Legend or Begin a Lineage
Characters who choose to become a Legend can level up a new
experience bar and gain alternate advancements to empower their characters further.
Advancement as a Legend is powerful and unique to Legend characters.
Characters who choose to begin a Lineage gain strength
differently. The more progeny and the stronger the progeny become the stronger
and more advanced all characters part of the Lineage become. Advancement of a
Lineage is powerful and unique to characters part of a Lineage.
While beginning a lineage will not yield powerful results
quickly like that of a legendary character, over time a Lineage will become
more powerful than Legendary characters.
Tier list.
Normal---Normal max lvl character
Better---Max Lvl Legend character
Best---Max Lvl Progeny of a Max lvl Lineage
Caveat
All three types of these characters are able to group and do
all content at max level. There should be a difference between the 3 types but
not such a difference to prevent somebody from being ‘included’ in content.

I like it, and I think what you are describing is likely to be in game. Basically you are describing AAs and Progeny. I think we expect both at some point. Unsure if AAs will be available on release.
