Keep the class matrix please, I really don't like when the races are homogonized. I really dislike it when games make the races nothing more than a visual preference. Lets have some distinctiveness with the different races, let the lore and story decide. I will still play the game, but it would bother me to no end seeing a gnome monk... Would look silly to me.
