Welcome to the forums! :)
I won't wait with exploration. I will move out of the newbie yard as soon as I feel comfortable...and I'm sure there'll be plenty of people to group up with in the next zones. Not sure if I'll start the game with a pre-made guild, or group of friends. I really hope that the Pantheon community will be open and that it will be possible to meet lots of people on the way and make friends with them.
I am an explorer. In eq1 and eq2 it took me longer to level than most of my friends because I was always looking for better(faster) EXP. If I would just stay in 1 spot and grind I would have hit max much faster. The upside was that I knew the world muuuch better than them when it was time to work on epics.
I will wait longer than most people. I am more interested in learning the character and the class a bit and exploring the starter area rather thoroughly than I am in leveling.
Since a major interest is crafting this gives a lot more than killing to look into and learn the ropes for.
For me, it depends on how many people steal my mobs and ks me lol. But I will say that I will explore the city until I find the equivelent of the bone chips turn in or crushbone belt turn in or gnoll fang turn in quest givers and see what I need to hold onto for more exp. I will then go level up and die alot...and hopefully make friends while dying alot.
Cheers.
Raidil said: So here is my question to every one. How long to you plan to wait before leaving home towns to meet up with friends. I think for me some place around lv 5 to 10 all depending on how long u can low lv solo and quest i need to do
ASAP. I plan to venture out to get away from the population hubs as soon as I can.
Depends. I'll head out at level 1 or 2 to go meet up with friends provided A) They are not a race KoS to mine and B) Their city has vendors/trainers for my class. Otherwise I can wait or they can come to me if possible. Then it's just leveling up to 5 or 6 before finding my way to whatever Blackburrow/Crushbone/Befallen equivalent dungeon they have.
Objectively looking at my past play-style, I like to take things somewhat seriously in the game world. That means I am pretty much a scaredy-cat at first. I would look for at least one or two more people I have interacted with or played with in the City gates before deciding to head yonder because of some quest or general interest.
Ideally those one or two more people would also want to head yonder and see what is there.
The idea would be to see how far we could go, relative to being able to recover corpses and such and get back to "town" to lick our wounds and ego's. But If I heard of another town somewhat close or met someone slightly more skilled from that area coming to my area, I would definitely want to try to make it there with my current group and stay there a while. "Take in the air, there" as the say. That way I could add more friends from the other town (also hopefuly like-minded) to the list.
I would want to try to make it on our own, but if super higher skilled players happened to pass by and offered escort for some of the journey, that would be ok, too.
If that's whats important to you then your best to head out at level one with no gear.
You can't loose levels, you can't loose gear, no need for corpse run... just make the toon and go.
My buddy did that in Wow, took a Gnome from Ironforge to the Elf City.... Kaladim was it (?) So he could level their for faction and get the Elf Cat mount on a gnome.
Edit: confusing my games... Wow Elf City = Darnassus

Naked gnomie runs...hope to do some of those, and speaking of the early levels, yeah don't think there's any danger of losing levels for the first bit...depends where VR will draw the line. Think in EQ it might have been level 10..not sure. Been awhile since I played a newbie in EQ.
This reminds me of EQ when I had a friend or two play, but different races and I could not persuade them otherwise.
Thus ensued the epic level 1 try-and-get-to-each-other quest.
It was possibly the most difficult and dangerous quest any of us would ever do!
In one way, I half expect Pantheon to accomodate multi-racial groups and allow some travel between hubs, but.... also it would be cool not to!
