Pantheon would look awesome with this  :)  The $400 dollar pricetag is crazy low !

I was so excited when they released the info about these cards, can't believe the price to performance! I can't wait to see where the tech is at around the time when pantheon releases (aiming my next build for its release), if nothing else these monsters should be even cheaper xD

I kinda feel bad for anyone who just bought a 980/ti/titan thinking that the new cards wouldn't out perform them for some time.

While I do love tech talk, this has nothing to do with general Pantheon discussion and has been moved to Off Topic, please be mindful of where you post in future. :)

Yea I've been holding off on a GPU upgrade for a while now.  The wait is over ;D  Though like Rachael, I may wait and see what happens in the coming months (the upgrade is nowhere near imperative).  Also, those are U.S. prices, the cards will be more expensive north of the border ><

I want a Radeon R9 Nano next. My days of huge 600 watt power supplies are over as power prices rise. It's 175 watts and has a heck of a GPU. Also I think you can trim power consumption down even more. 596mm2 Die at 28nm lol. It's got smaller ASIC chips on the main die to do helper functions. I am guessing this is what Nvidia is "gunning" for with these new cards.

It's around $525-$550 street price now.

I've always been more of the gamer type than the tech type when it comes to my pc.  Labels went and got entirely too complicated for me to follow and I gave up long ago, so if my PC runs fine I don't mess with it.

Seeing graphics cards will get cheaper for the quality will be very nice for the wallet.

That being said, I have every intention to pester some of the more knowledgable builders here for a build recommendation or two (them willing) when the time gets closer ;)

While I don't think theres any real world testing for the new cards so far, people may want to hold off until HBM2. GDDR5x is a big improvement, but HBM2 is expected to take them even further. Its rumored the 1000 series may have it on the Ti cards later this year and most likely as the standard on the next series.

First third party benchmarking of the 1080 I've seen, done by LinusTechTips (link sends to 7m50s into the video where they actually start talking about the benchmarking).

As I previously mentioned I'm not currently in the market and would love to see where these cards go in the future like Dullahan mentioned with HBM2, but its already looking very nice, especially for the price.

I'm not a huge hardware techie, but I also believe the benefit of DX12 is in asynchronous computing. From what I've read, that is something that has to be addressed in the way cards are designed. AMD cards have long been designed with that sort of thing in mind, but I think in the coming years we will see a new level of processing power unvieled as both hardware and software is designed to make use of this new tech available in the DX12 API.

Yup!  I'll be pulling the trigger very soon <3 (July 19 if I can get my hands on one!)
