So it's not like smoking the real thing, but Project:Gorgon Pre-Alpha has come a long ways since last year.
I decided to give it a try, it's free to test, and open to the public for download. It's ugly, and definitely not perfect, but the zones, quests, fights are Asheron's Call meets Everquest according to many ( I never played AC). It's an Indie developed by a husband and wife and will never be an AAA title, but it really quite fun in the weeks time I've been playing it. The community is cool, and mature.
If you're bored, give it a try, it's a quick fix for old school MMOing in the mean time.
