Heroes of Might and Magic Series (1, 2 and 3 specifically)
Quest for Glory Series (1, 3, and 4 - although 4 was super buggy)
Kings Quest Series (Many other adventure/puzzle series too - Legend of Kryandia, Space Quest, Police Quest etc.)
Lands of Lore - Throne of Chaos
Might and Magic Series (IV/V - Clouds and Darkside of Xeen probably my favorites)
Near misses for me:
Betrayal at Krondor, but the game was just so buggy.
Eye of the Beholder 1 & 2
Civilization
So many other good games I could have included on the list, but these were probably the games/series that helped define and hone my gaming interests.
In descending order of playtime:
Doom/Quake - id Software has yet to design a level for a game that I haven't played at least once. And I am seriously thinking of buying the new remastered Doom 3 bundle. I love the franchise that much.
Diablo 1/2/3 - Diablo 2 is the only one that I have fewer than 3 max level characters.
Morrowind/Skyrim - two best single player 1st person RPGs ever.
Baldurs Gate/Planescape Torment - two best CRPGs ever.
StarCraft 1/2 - game that defines RTS for me.

Ultima 1 - 4
Original Pools of Radiance circa '89
Wizardy 5 - Circa '88
Zelda 1 and 2.. I realized that no matter what I did the bad would always continue to appear/reappear
original Metal Gear Solid for Playstation
I LOVED the Wizardry series. I think i would put Wizardry VII, Crusaders of the Dark Savant on my list. Speaking of which - here we go;
1. Fallout (all of them, even tactics)
2. Wing Commander (cheating again - all of them, with III being my top)
3. Blade Runner (amazing little westwood game)
4. System Shock (1 and 2)
5. This is too hard! I could put any of the Baldur's Gate titles here, or any of the Elder Scrolls games, or any of the Wizardry games
I will go out on a limb and put Outlaws by Lucas Arts as my #5. It was such a fantastic game.
