The game is titled and centered around the Pantheon, which got me to thinking about what your favorite real-life and in-game deities might be. What is the most memorable? Why were they memorable?
Roman (Greek) deities are quite interesting, as they usually are portrayed as very active within the world. However, some of the best characteristics of lore-telling is minimalism--trying to tell a story with as few details as possible--where, for instance, there may be one legend around one god or goddess that leaves the reader questioning what happened or motivates said god or goddess.
If the approach in lore telling is taken where deities in the game have a direct involvement with the world, then I suppose characteristics of those I find memorable are like that of Sheogorath of The Elder Scrolls. If the other direction is taken, where the story is told leaving the readers guessing, then Mithras is perhaps the most iconic deity.
What are your thoughts on the gods and goddesses of Pantheon: RotF?

Pantheon is also a name of a Building in Rome. Which has nothing to do with this game.. as nothing to do with its Lore..

...I don't understand what you mean. Are you not thinking this through? Did you not read other definitions and just focus on the first one? Pantheon has everything to do with diverse deities, and this game is built around this idea.

True, though I think they should be rarer or difficult to even see in the world. Those all had interesting histories and lore attached to them as well.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, is not based on Greek lore, it has it's own.

As someone who spends way too much time re-reading the lore, I'm hoping there are a few Pantheons for indigenous Terminus peoples (Terminosians?) that subscribe to paganistic animism / Shintoism. I like a Mediterranean civilization model Pantheon as much as the next guy, but it would be really neat to see a subversion of Western perceptions of what gods are.
The other one I'm interested in is exploring the effects of a monotheistic race encountering a world like Terminus; I can't imagine it would be peaceful.
The first one seems like it would be great as a background piece, like a critique on what it means to place so much faith in and emphasis Mythical God-Figures, and the latter seems like a good setup for a subplot in an expansion.
There's so many possibilities!

Now what I liked about the Raymond E. Feist concept I wanted to share:
There are no gods (unless I read it wrong and my perception of it is wrong, lol, but bear with my on it nonetheless)
Basically, gods are primordial expressions of what is and what forms, evolves.
Now if you focus on that, name it, assign to it, blame it for that matter. It takes form, in thought, expression definition, explanation.
Where the combined power of thought made real the fabric of existence and the perception of it by all involved.
This combined worship, fear for and an explanation for what is perceived.
This force of the collective thought for the concept made real the diety.
Strong enough and an intelligence and even a consiousness emerges.
Diety by Faith.
Then in turn by the forces of the fabric of existance focused in this Diety, this Diety's very existance is then dependant for its survival by the faith of the believers; the faithfull.
To increase its own power and survival, the diety in turn grants some believers a boon of existential fabric (mana/magic/shards), enforcing the accuracy of the belief.
In this case, Macros was able to join with the lost god of magic (magic was low on the scale as not many beleived in magic as a diety on it's own); turning his own fabric into thought and perception (otherway round).
Not to say that players could become gods, but an explanation of the gods' right to exist. And how magic and mana would be a real thing.
Where colliding worlds and colliding beliefs would be a clash of mana's.
Where gods might fight over worship.
Where players could defy gods as they are of the same stuff of the fabric of space and time.
So what will we see? Excited?
