Is the lightning in the game a separate asset file?
If so can this trigger an effect upon other assets?
I was envisioning a flash causing a temporary glow upon flora or fauna that could indicate a trait or variation.
Anyway that my addition to feature creep for today. Peace.
Mentioned in the stream was they were able to tell the difference between light sources. Their example was moonlight, where certain flowers only grow in moonlight.
I would assume that could be applied to lightning as well.
From what I know about the game engine, that's very possible, I think it may come down to performance.
I hope lightning causes most mobs to seek shelter, making it a good time to travel if you don't mind the risk of getting zapped.
Will it function like RL lightning, targetiing tsller objects and metallic objects? It would be quute fun if so, since we would try to act intuitively. Simple RNG lightning strikes won't feel real. I'd love to see it target metal armor / weapon wearers, so if lightning is a concern, players can decide if switching gear is warranted. Short races should also be less likely to get hit.

"Hi, I'm J'honny Clericfield. Welcome to Jackass."

From the looks of things, the environment will be something much deeper than we generally encounter in games.
ogre warriors make good lightning rods...
