We've got a while until Pantheon launches and If you’re like me no game is scratching that itch that you haven’t played to death and thanks to the shutdowns (and arguably a creative void in Hollywood) there’s virtually no new movies or tv shows worth watching. Bordom is a very real thing. So the other night I started browsing YouTube for some fan films both old and new. Some I saw a long while back, others I found while searching. The one thing they all have in commonis that they're a fun watch and put together pretty well. Many better than some feature length movies. So I compiled a small list for those you as bored as I am to check out and hopefully provide you with some small outlet of entertainment during this extreme boredom phase.
In any case, it's a little something to do to pass the time while bored. Enjoy!
Star Wars: Darth Maul - Apprentice
Ever wanted more Darth Maul? This one gives it to you along with some of the best lightsaber duals put on film. Some might even say they shame modern movies.
Star Wars: SC 38 Reimagined
I'm not always big on the changes in Star Wars remastering. But this one I loved. If it slipped under your radar when FXItinPost released it last year, you owe it to yourself to give it a watch if you're a fan of the original Star Wars trilogy. The additions to this scene are great.
Star Trek: First Frontier
This one is a it of a throwback to older TOS style Star Trek. It shows that it was a passion project. It's well-acted and on a budget. But all the same it's a nice little story.
Star Trek: Prelude to Axanar
Legal craziness of this aside, Prelude to Axanar looks like a feature made Star Trek film made in an almost documentary style and starring many sci fi and Star Trek alumni. The film itself is a prelude to a crowdfunded film coming up called Axanar that has been the subject of legal issues due to the amount it raised and the high quality of the filming. All that aside, if you like classic Star Trek, this will scratch that itch.
Halo: Dawn Under Heaven
This fan film started back in 2010 and was finally completed last year. The story tells the tale of a group of UNSC soldiers led by an ODST soldier sent to retrieve a piece of alien tech that may hold the key to defeating the covenant. If you know anything about the Halo saga, this story might interest you as that tech is on the planet of Reach during the covenant invasion. While it's on a budget, it's a pretty solid story.
Halo: The Fallen
This was another pretty decent one that tells the story of a group of surviving solders from the Pillar of Autumn trying to evade being captured or killed by the covenant in a story set during the events of the first Halo game.
Mass Effect: Red Sand
This one stars Mark Meer, voice of the male version of Commander Shepard in Mass Effect. It serves as a prequel to the original trilogy of games with the discovery of important tech related to the universe.
Uncharted
While Tom Holland is Nathan Drake on the big screen adaptation, I'll always believe this fan film shows why Nathan Fillian should have been the guy that got that role.
Batman: Dead End
This is an older one but remains one of my favorite. One of my favorite shots is the cape shot (you'll know it). The rest of the film is filled with some amusing twists and is a fun watch. Especially if you know a bit about comics.
The Punisher: Dirty Laundry
Thomas Jane's Punisher movie got a bit ofa mixed reception due to it's PG-13ing of the character and some other questionable decisions. After seeing the script of what he thought was a terrible sequel, Jane made a fan film instead that shows more what could have been. This one, is The Punisher in all his brutal glory.
Power Rangers Unauthorized
Like The Punisher: Dirty Laundry, this one also comes from Adi Shanker as part of his Bootleg Universe. If you've ever wondered what a darker version of the Power Rangers might would look like, this is it.
Left 4 Dead Impulse 76
This one starts off as a Left 4 Dead fan film and then takes an unexpected turn with a few amusing cameos. Fun watch all the same.
Marvel's: Gambit
This is a pretty solid action fan film short story involving Marve's Gambit. Fun watch, recommended.
Galactic Battles - Star Wars, Star Trek, Mass Effect, and Halo Crossover Fan Film
Mindless fun little crossover fan film with some decent effects.
Horror Fan Films
Friday the 13th: Vengeance
This one is a bit of a feature length film made by fans and filled with plenty of over-the-top Jason style kills that made Friday the 13th popular. I believe the final count was 44.
Friday the 13th: Never Hike Alone
This fan film is kind of a found footage film that came ou around the same time as the Friday the 13th game. It's pretty well-made and has a prequel called Never Hike Alone in the Snow (link below), with an appearance from Thom Mathews, who played Tommy Jarvis in Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives as well as the Friday the 13th video game.
Friday the 13th: Never Hike Alone in the Snow
As a prequel to the previous movie above, this one is once again of decent quality and is set 3 months prior to Never Hike Alone. It too has an appearance from Thom Mathews reprising his role as Tommy Jarvis from the Friday the 13th series.
SCP: Overlord
Chanced on this one the other day. Pretty solid and creepy setup.
Anywho, add some of your own. I'm still bored. lol
Also check out Bat in the Sun if you want to see some of your favorite characters fight to the death.
