Community Member Spotlight: Shucklighter

1) What is your main character's in-game name and how did you come up with it?

I’ll likely choose something biblical for a first name and have Shucklighter as a surname. I came up with Shucklighter in 2007 when I was researching Old West jargon for my fantasy western novel (that I’ll never finish). There’s a term ‘lit a shuck’, and it basically means someone left in a hurry and/or in the middle of the night. I sort of made it into a noun and then made it my main character’s surname. I’ve been using it for gaming ever since.

2) What interests you the most about Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen?

What interests me most about PRF is the opportunity to return to a game where one actually needs to interact with other players (not just one’s friends and/or guildmates), where things other players do actually matter, where one must rely upon other players and classes to accomplish goals, and where items are meaningful and memorable.

3) What will your main race and class be and why?

I’m sold on the PRF Paladin concept. I’m just really impressed with it. I’ll be leveling with Citidal (an elite healer) and Meme (an elite crowd-controller), so when I read the PRF Paladin reveal I decided to go back to tanking. I love the utility this Paladin offers and I’m really excited about all of the passive bonuses versus undead targets. The Shucklighters are humans, so I’ll be a Human Paladin. I kind of dig Ocirico, also, and I could definitely see my character being a Paladin of Ocirico if that’s an option.

4) What is your favorite system, mechanic or feature so far in Pantheon?

NPC Dispositions--there’s a ton of potential here. I’m hoping to see something where there are a lot of different dispositions, where NPCs spawn with a random disposition each time, and where the player won’t be able to tell an NPC’s disposition until after the NPC has been engaged. Perhaps certain types of Perception will allow some players to determine an NPC’s disposition ahead of time.

5) If you could enter the game and visit anywhere in Terminus for 1 hour, where would you go and why?

Highbrace, for sure. The Highbrace image is indubitably the finest piece of PRF concept art to date, what a fantasy setting! It just looks like somewhere I want to be.

6) Finally, if you had to choose between skipping all of the 1-49 levelling and content and instantly be level 50 or logging in at level 1 and enjoying the levelling process up to 49 but never being able to reach max level and raid, what would you choose and why?

Tough choice. I’m already planning my static group and I’m excited about spending weeks (hopefully) leveling with those guys at launch. Leveling with a static group is the most fun I’ve ever had in an MMORPG and I definitely encourage anyone who hasn’t tried it to give it a shot. Still, we’re Faceless, and so we raid. I’d have to choose Option A. Fortunately when the game launches, I’ll have my cake and eat it, too.
