You guys could have gone to release with this and probably hit max sales to he niche market you're aiming for within a week.
This is a great video, just fun to watch.

They have been working hard for a little over 2 years now on this product. What you are seeing though is only what is prepared to be shown. While that area may be populated there are many other unfinished areas and significant changes/improvements to the gameplay that will be coming.

The graphics and gameplay have improved since then. There was a new stream recorded about a month or so ago.
With increased funding and more people progress has been much faster - things are moving ahead nicely.
While the short delay in the November newsletter may have any number of prosaic reasons (the person tasked with writing it was sick or diverted to something that *had* to be done before pre-alpha started) one can always hope that some new milestone was a week or so off and they wanted to be able to highlight it in the newsletter as something accomplished not something almost ready.
