Can only have the three of us in a conversation here, as the remaining four have (wisely) opted to wait for launch before paying.

But was wondering how much/often you tend to use voice chat in games?

I for example would only turn it on when we were starting to prep for a raid/camp and because i had to. I'd obviously keep it on during, but turn it off right after. I consider it taking away from the experience rather than adding; necessary where applicable of course (how else can 3846354278 people get organised), but the "evil" kind of necessary nonetheless.

I always found it preferable to type and read. Then again, i still have use for pen and paper so i may not exactly be the majority here :P

    Do you see it differently?

I used to have the same preference as you, I had almost forgot that I once did but your post reminded me. I guess over time I got used to the jibber-jabber and in some games like EVE for example it's basically a must have.

I wouldn't mind taking a more conservative approach to the use of voice chat for this game though, for immurrsion purrposes :3

"Conservative"? Moi? Who said that!!! Why, i.. :P

It's not just the 'immersion' (ever since the advent of game "journos" this term gives me the creeps), although it does play its part for sure. It's one thing seeing a boss coming out of nowhere and almost one shotting you, soundtrack in step (and how important is sound huh), and quite another to have it all almost muted because Peter is talking about his friend's wife's sister and would you believe what she did this time. Different experience altogether, you know? :)

You've lost something in the second scenario, the experience is somewhat diminished, or at least, so i deem it.

But it's also about mental stamina for lack of a better term.. wears you down, needing to focus on people (are they talking to me? Is what they're saying of import? Need i intervene, comment, keep a mental note, etc?), which is one aural source; the game's sound effects and track, them being a second one (and if this game is even half good, there may be an import there too. Think cues); and while splitting your attention to both, dealing with the game's actual mechanics on top.

That too has its cost ^^

(now granted, the latter need not apply for everyone, as i can see a member "tuning" us all "off" while having vent on, going about his business and whatever. I just cannot see me tuning all of you off, not what i'm meant to be doing, lol)

Everyone keeps saying how ""jaded"" they are, how they cannot wait for a new..old.. MMO! Like Pantheon! Awesome concept! Teh classez!!111 wow! ..zorz..!!11

(and i sit down to have a read, yeah? Warrior, meat shield; the end. Semi-useless category. Exactly as it had and has been for like.. yeah. Shaman? Heal others, die when alone. Totally useless category. Except for others! How cool is that! And totally novel! I mean i've like never seen this done before! Oh my God, did i say how novel! I could go on, but.. it always fascinated me, how they attract the lowest possible IQ in these kind of games, they don't even have to try hard, you know? They will literally flock on their own. It's honestly amazing, both the audience's inclination, existing in advance, sans encouragement, and its self-proclaimed assurance that it is somehow unique; be it in its eclecticism or its ability to pinpoint the 'novel' amidst the "trash"; and its low IQ notwithstanding. It's really humbling if one could take a step back for just a moment, we're after all supposedly of the same species)

    /random off

Me, Statler and Waldorf. Should name the guild thus, lol

*Edit: If you're wondering what does this all say about us, you're on the right track dear, keep at it. Self-flagellation does wonders for the soul. And the coffers i guess.

I do agree with you for the most part, I do enjoy the sounds of in-game while soloing or crafting etc. Though I am a former raid leader and I admit I used to spend HOURS on ventrillo back in the day talking with guildmates pre/post raid while drinking some brews......fun times lol. I am flexible either way :)

Point there, had forgotten about that! In my defence, it's been quiiiite a while ^^

Was actually thinking more of this trend i'd noticed, where everyone was somehow supposed to be logged in for their entire playtime, come rain or sunshine; which to me entails a certain "pressure" of sorts, you know? My intent here was to see if you guys expected something similar, or are willing to be looser i guess? Non-diplomatically speaking, i'd say normal, but.. yeah :)

As to the drinking part, we'll get back to that, lol

(am a two Js kind of guy; if it's Jack or Jim, am aaall set. I hear Bullet is O.K., but it doesn't start with a J)

O.K., was checking the thread's total viewings and statistically speaking we're doing great, lol..

..which is, for good or worse, actually true; what we ask and the typical mmo player, two different things :)

Anyway, thread is bumped, so can now retreat further back in the mancave.

Been watching the sapiens Outside(tm) for all these decades and frankly am disappointed. They just don't mak'em like they used to.

If interested, and why would you, are you crazy perhaps? Imbalanced? Can i have your prescriptions!? Send a PM, or feel free to ask here.

What does it do. Seriously I wanna know. If you do know please email some pizza rolls. Well it’s been swell adios on a more serious note if you don’t know we might have a problemo. Hey we should start a limousine called no problimo. Well if this isn’t awkward and at a little strange I guess that’s why it’s awkward meeting strangers but I digest I’d love to meatball all y’all in game jeez I hardly know you anyway? Well my real question is would we actually play together I play one to five central us time otherwise good luck and farewell I would not want to waste your time with any nonsense.

Dude you said 'strange', but.. not that strange :)

Balls one can juggle, balls one cannot, as one would need drop the others ^^

No fixed playing time am afaid; there's no specific timezone in mind, not at this time anyway.

Barring some miracle (which i do not pray for, as it would entail a different kind of Pantheon), this will be like Everquest I.. Everquest II.. Vanguard.. eventually it's gonna be 'one' "server", no matter how successful its launch. Seen it enough over the years; am thus focusing on people i can be friends with, not pixels with an expiration date.

You do make it hard on folks, you've flagged your profile private, cannot PM you. So.. in public :)

Ordinarily, one expects something in the following order:

    1) Interested parties read the OP (wherein they'd have, for example, found that we don't have a timezone yet, explanation included; meaning that if they ask me, they haven't even bothered reading the 'about' page, so why should i bother?)

    2) Post or PM me denoting an interest or questions arisen (that, i would repeat, are not covered in the OP)

    3) Proceed to say something about themselves (because how else could one know whom they're talking to)

    4) Do so in a manner that raises as few alarm bells as possible ^^

Let's try again, shall we? PM me :)

    Bit of a conundrum;

Lacking the patience/insight to look further than the first page denotes a certain lack of compatibility.

Pointlessly bumping a thread however indicates impatience, it being pointless. On the other hand, foregoing it displays a lack of intent on my behalf.

I hate Sartre's rotted guts, but hell sure is other people, lol

    So there. /bump.

    The existential swine beckons.

One notes the poorly hidden references, the underlying hope they get noticed, the fear they are recognised; the human condition's juxtaposition so pathetically evident. I did say it's a conundrum; of sorts.

Plus they haven't fed us yet, the asylum adheres to a very strict schedule, alas. One endures.

Opportunities on the horizon ladies and gents.

After an arduous, epic indeed search deep inside the murky waters of the interweb, i surface dirty and slimy.

By that i mean victorious obviously. We may have found more sick individuals with which we can mingle in shame and agony! Kindred spirits you'd ask? Why such was my impression, albeit it was late and dark if i'm to be honest; who actually knows in this life, trully.

Will take some time off my rigorous undertakings to PM you (well.. some of you, after all i can only stoop so low now can't i), or better yet have my secretary do it for me. Cannot be bothered with stationary these days, the sheer anachronism. Regardless, you shall in all eventuality be informed accordingly possibly.

Now, a gift from the heavens you'd naturally wonder? Sans any small print you might enquire? Why none at all almost, a mere token at best; the odd transfusion and transplant, a sexual favour or two, nothing dreadful come to think of it. As the song says, as the song says.

    Friggin' in the riggin', friggin' in the riggin';

Friggin' in the riggin', there was feck all else to do.

    Couldn't resist, i'm so sorry.

(is anyone laughing with all this? No, don't answer that. Dirty, dirty little minds you have)

Updated OP so as to reflect current changes.

In short, we've grown, by a lot, are already enjoying the various err, amenities one would expect to have in a guild (website, communications, external chat, etc.) and are about to overhaul as it were our recruitment efforts within this forum as well. I will be updating the OP or linking to the new Recruitment thread once we're ready.

In the meantime, you can always PM me or post here if you're interested.

(though for the love of God, read the OP and save us both the time)

When we have our profile flagged as private, folks cannot PM us ^^

    This was probably me!

I needed to wait for payday before taking the plunge, and I'll be upgrading next week again. Think I might go for the Alpha access, we'll see. I assumed I needed a subscription to utilize any of the forum PM's or before posting, which is the reason for a lack of introduction.

The reason I sent a friend request first, was so I didn't lose the thread, nor the person who wrote it, as this feels like a guild for an old fart like me.

So, in light of all that, Hello!

I also had no idea my profile was private.....so thanks for the heads-up!

I haven't even watched any new MMO releases, nor have I been as excited for a game since EQ2 was in pre-release. This is the first project I've been following closely, as the current MMO's don't promote any sort of social acitivity or awareness. I never played an MMO so I could play solo. I have been looking for something that will bring back the old ways of grouping being mandatory, and building a reputation as a good player worth the effort.

    Hello there and welcome :)

It's honestly not an issue, i can be a lot more patient than err, may be apparent! But given the times and their signs (o tempora, o mores he said.. but if only he knew huh), i need also be a touch pre-emptive so to speak, loads of folks appear to have radically different ideas regarding what nowadays constitutes communication for example. Shockingly or sadly, most are also unwilling to reconsider ^^

Glad you took the plunge, hope you won't regret it, lol. It's exhilaratingly dumb, giving money for nothing (chicks for free), is it not!? I mean what could go wrong? :)

    - in the interest of solidarity and shared lamentations [imaginary or otherwise], we here too have gone with stupid! One must above all be mature; therefore, most of us here have Alpha passes, barring a few even dumber people that purchased pre-Alphas. They just had to top us, you know?

-- and while i cannot share what is not to be shared, judging by their impresssions so far it appears we're in for quite the amazing game.

Am personally just like you in that aspect, had ceased looking altogether. And excluding Pantheon, got nothing else to look out for either.  While the idea of.. "gaming".. is still agreeable, what passes as one today falls way, way below even my loosest standards.  So really looking forward to this ^^

Many thanks for posting and assuming there's even a sliver of interest in joining us, feel free to PM me with any questions you may have. Or accusations, that works too. Alternatively, post them here, whichever's most convenient for you. I try not to type too much here, as it tends to scare away the nine second attention span generation.

hint: we like old farts. We like lawn. We like to swear, it's liberating, it's healthy and above all it's honest. We also like Clint Eastwood.

(personally, i like his daughter too, though obviously no one's asked me)

And i'm still in need of a lawyer. Aza wtf, lol

I'm sure we have a bit of time before anything solidifies to decide where to go and what to do. So far though, my excitement levels are ridiculous.
When launch does come, I am almost afraid because I work from home.....which means I might be playing....a lot.

I played EQ1 a few months after launch, and was one of the few players that stuck through being a Nero. It was such an undesirable class for groups and I was one of four on my server for several years. I played up until the end of Luck in, had my Epic and was in a high tier raiding guild....can't remember which server, but the guild was Dwarec Mercs.
I then played EQ2 for several more years as an Inquisitor but was much more casual, and I spent a lot of time crafting. I think I did all of 2 raids in EQ2 over the three years I played.
I also played WoW as a Discipline Priest before it was the most OP healing class through to Warlords of Draenor. After which I became disillusioned with constantly chasing the endgame, no social aspect, and the zero playstyle, regardless of which class you played. I did lots of raidING in WoW but again found the entire playstyle to be face roll the keyboard and have no skill and the best gear, and you win!

I plan on going slow and steady and exploring the world. It was one of my favourite things to do, especially if the world is ridiculously dangerous.

As for classes in Pantheon, I'm favoring Summoner and Shaman. Though Bard and Druid both look tastey. I might go for a Cleric but they seem to have good representation in the class polls.
