How important is your characters name to you, do you put time into creating it or is it just random and meaningless to you?

Yeah I can spend hours trying to think up some available unique ones without adding extra letterss or xlettersx.

My Charactername is pretty important to me. Also i setup stuff like "Size of the Character". Other settings will be "randomized", till it looks "ok". I like it, when my Character looks "normal, w/ some settings i like to have (like height)". I dont want to have a "Look-a-Like-Barbie-HighElf" or something...

I've got two character names which I try and use whenever I can. One of them is never taken by anyone but me and the other one sometimes people steal which I'm hoping won't be the case in Pantheon. This is the reason why I was asking if the early name reservation would be announced in advance so as soon as the system comes online I can register my character name straight away before someone else steals it.

I've been known by these names since 2003 so they mean a lot to me and if I didn't get them I'd be really angry.

We're contemplating setting up a way pre-launch for people to reserve names (even earlier registration is in some of our pledges).  Also thinking about making First and Last name have to be unique ala Vanguard.  Last names would also play a part of the Progeny system.

That sounds awesome. Thanks for the post :). Now I need to decide on a surname for my characters. Great. That'll take me weeks to decide on a good one :P.

Yeah, I have a list of half a dozen names I mostly always use and have for ~20 years. Last name is easy for some characters, but gets harder for the rogue that grew up on the streets, living by his wits...I guess McStabby is always an option.

Character name and looks are very important for me.  I even look up the meaning of the name and try to match it to the race and class of the character I play.  I usually have a short list with a few I carry from game to game.  My names are odd enough that very rarely does anyone else choose them.

Quick question - will we be able to have names like "Eric the Bald", Leopold Skaa IV, or Thulsa Dhu'um (yeah, it is really Thulsa Doom)?

    Nice Sparks!

Not sure at this stage, we still have a way to go before we look into the finer details of names but it is something we can certainly keep in mind :)

Curious to find out what the naming policy will be.

In Everqust I got in trouble for using the name, Spopovich and forced to change it. Spopovich is a super minor character from the Dragon Ball Z series. He was only in 2 episodes!

It sounded like a pretty good fantasy name to me :( Meanwhile the infamous Erudite Shadowknight, Eddie Murphy went around training everyone for as long as I was a member.

I try to pick a name that is not agonizing for someone else to spell if trying to send a tell or sending an invite.  Also a name that has a natural contraction to it to be used casually- like Kale- short for Kalevalatar-.

Names are very important for me. I do not spend much time to create a funky special name but i try that my names sound nice. Mostly my names start with Lari...

    Greetings

I think the best way of putting how i feel about my char name is this. My name is me, it is an extension of my self and for my time in the game may as well be my real name. it is important to me and they are always of my own creation.

I know many people have silly names at times but for me they are so much more.

Character names are quite important to me. I have been using the same ones since EQ and every MMO I have played since. That being said, I do have a handful of names I can use so the chance someone takes them all is quite slim.

Early name reservation would be a welcome perk.

Names are important to me. I have a Note on my iPhone that has at least 20 first and last names ready to go.

I have some favorites that I have used for years and I will likely use one of those when I make my first character.

I love making my character look the way I like at creation and that can take some time, I don't want to spend an hour just on the name part so I have that done already.

i hope the characters size (height, weight etc.) can be adusted. And have lots of different hair styles. I already have my names. I just need to make my look.

I do wish the last name would have been a Lev 20 achievement like it was in EQ, but looks like it's level one in pantheon, but that's ok too.

Please have the ability to turn off last names, guild names, and titles as well. ( for raids ) it keeps the screen clean.

Definitely not if you call them a rouge man!

I have always played a Wizard/Mage as my main (except in E&B). In D&D, EQ, E&B, EQ2, WoW, Rift, ESO, FFXIV, I have used the same name.

In about 1990 my 5 year old son told me I should use the name Skycaster when making my character sheet in D&D, and I have used it in every game from D&D back in 1990.

We all stopped D&D and a couple years later we started playing EQ in 2000, I just carried the name on, and still use it today and very much hope to get it reserved. It is one of the many reasons I pledged. My son is a very good MMO player now and I hope he will be in my group many nights. Actually, nowadays, It will be me in his group :) .

It's quite important to me.  I've used the same names throughout different games.

Last names don't matter to me as much. Some games where last names were a possibility I've continued to just go by one name.  That's not saying I won't use a last name, however.

It would be nice if we could be allowed to use names with apostrophes or names that require multiple capitalizations though I'm not a fan of names that contain numbers or xXx or such to differentiate them.

The character name is very important to me.  I have used the same few for mains since I was playing Ultima Online and EQ.  I like the idea of having the same name as I did when I started back in college playing for ridiculous hours.  Even though I have played 20 games since then it makes me feel like the characters live on when I can have that same name.

It's cool when you enter a new game and people from other games remember you.  I've been reintroduced to old friends that I had lost touch with this way.

I'll be using the same name that the EQ random name generator gave me 17 years ago. 70% vowels, so great!
