Favorite Zone Music?

In EQ, VG or in other games you have played do you have one or two favorite songs as far as zone/area/etc. music goes ? Any music that tugs on your heart strings each time you hear it?

Though both EQ and VG had tons music I adored, I would say it's a tie for me between EQ's Gfay (Kelethin) and VG's Khal as far as music goes. Both songs are truly magical.

    What about you?

    Zones had music?

Always had it turned off, like particle effects and water.

Wow... Vanguard had such great music throughout.

I couldn't remember the exact area that had the music I was thinking of but after listening to a few tracks on youtube I'm pretty sure this -> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-zM_ro0yXw is it.  Really hard to say though I enjoyed all of it!  As far as EQ goes, the main intro splash screen music still gives me a little tingle whenever I hear it.  =)

In EQ the gnome city of Akanon was my favorite and most nostalgic, especially just outside the city as you enter steamfont. I guess it depends on the individual but music and sound effects really engage me in the game. I'm hoping for a similar experience in pantheon!

I enjoyed so many pieces from the EQ music. Kelethin is epic, and I also really liked Qeynos from the cities.

My two favorite pieces are probably the boat theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU1Fz9LWFtg ) and a piece you heard in Mistemoore but I think was also heard in a few other places like the bridges in Karana (http://youtu.be/T0katuKp8EU ). Another good one that is really nostalgic for me having spent many days in Toxxulia when EQ first released, was the Toxx river theme (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvcdrlWl-fQ ).

    Loved these songs.

Favorite was the Aviak Village in South Karana. If I was doing a long trek (Castswell, knows) I would go running along and then run up the ramp, pop the ring of flight and sort of be "with": the music. Sometimes I would buzz around the village until the song finished.

VG had some really amazing music. I loved the theme outside the dwarven city (that huge mountain area, it had an incredibly majestic music score). But my favorite was in the southern area where the three factions were warring, in the treant area (that stone circle). I can still hum that music...its so fantastic. That's my final logging place btw...just for that music!

I don't remember much of original EQ music, but one thing I love is the little tune that plays when you open a vendor. Yeah, I'm simple like that :) I also like the Plane of Tranquility music very much. And I was amazed by the new Steamfont Mountain music.

My first experience in VG was of course my starter zone, and I will always hold a place in my heart for Dahknarg's theme.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ysBSjRAXQAk

    Easiest answer ever:  Kelethin.

That music came to mean "Safety and home" to me when I first started EQ, and that has never changed.  To this day, when I log into EQ and get near Kelethin, I get sort of an "ahhhhh" feeling.

Edit: Oh wait, I read it wrong. You don't like particle effects and water either? Ok, so those are my 2 favorite eye candies. :)

EQ splash screen music, never forget it and the feeling it brought(brings)

Halas - The haunting wierd little .midi that played while there. Probably because my first and main toon was born there. Can remember everynight after trying to xp in Everfrost, running back into Halas and camping on top of one of the barrels in the corner of the bank. Matter of fact that toon is camped there right now and forever heh.

Thanks, especially for the Toxx river theme. Love it! I find it amazing how much music can stir your memories, and imagination.

Its fantastic to search in Youtube and then find collections of songs like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gMgm4yWdfEU&index=43&list=PLXYayGlSev2ua_uQWlzX3fyHB0zTIypNE (VG songs)

Can spend hours at times listening to some of them.

Too many soundtracks in FFXI to choose from. I guess I prefer the creepy/hopeless stuff like from Promvyon areas. Went so well with the emptiness of that dark dimension.

Man, this is such a hard question.  I listen to a fair amount of video game music IRL and I have a few go-tos for sure, but picking an absolute favorite is such a daunting task.  I love the Diablo II soundtrack.  Skyrim has a great soundtrack.  Ori and the blind Forest soundtrack is amazing.  Guild Wars 2 is very high on this list as well.  And of course, Vanguard...ah Vanguard.

I'm sure I've posted this somewhere at some point before.  Nevertheless, if you're a fan of Vanguard's music, be sure to check out this link.  It's the best, most comprehensive playlist I have found to date.  Enjoy ;)

Shadowbane was my first MMO waaaay back in 2003, ( WOW was NOT the first MMO :) ) and the music for the different zones was pretty good...IMO.  Here is a link to Ashen Tempers ( Sean Dahlberg) site  where he has preserved the music.

I'd love to hear Jay unleashed on a game like Pantheon in 2016. If only for a few tracks...

Very cool @Dullahan.  Kelethin will always be high on the list for me.  I have very fond memories of my very first EQ character, a Wood Elf Druid.  Great times :D

I'm in the Kelethin camp hehe.

Dun Morogh from World of Warcraft is special for me, that trickling piano was good.  World of Warcraft has some of my favorite music.

    Kelethein

    Nightsong (f'ing amazing)

    Dun Morogh

    North Ro

    Arthas my Son

Invincible  (and omg ... the name of the song and what it means. Kinda makes me cry when I listen to it)

Lament of the Highborn (Sung by the actual voice actress of Sylvanus Windrunner)

Timeless Isle (I love all the music from MoP honestly)
