I hope everyone in the U.S. had a great Independence Day! :)

Speaking of Independence, do you all tend to play with your Family/Friends in MMORPGs or are you independent and free to run around and do as you please at your own pace?

I usually play with friends.  These days I start the game with online friends I met in EQ, but always enjoy meeting new folks.

Free. I started playing EQ with the intent of playing with my RL friends but it never happened. I can only think of once where I actually played daily with a friend but he out leveled me quickly so what we tended to do was he played his alt and I had alts scattered at all sorts of levels so when he would out level one of my alts we would switch to another until eventually he caught up with my main that was high enough level for us to play with consistently. :)

When I play MMORPGs, I have typically tried to level and play with family and friends, but unfortunately, it seldom works too well.  We typically have different play times, or can play for more or less amounts than each other, so I typically end up finding a guild/friends in-game that play at a similar pace to myself.

I usually play with friends that I started with back in EQ but as we've gotten older our group has gotten smaller.  Families and jobs etc....  I hope I will get at least a couple of them to play Pantheon with me but I doubt it would be more than that. That's ok though, when I first started playing it was with my wife and another RL friend. Over the years (and games) we've met a ton of great people that we still keep up with today, 15 years later.  I'm optimistic we'll be able to do that again. :) That is if I can even get my wife and RL friend to play. heheh  Could just be me.

I am pretty much the same mate, I usually start with a core group of friends/guildies and then meet new friends and guildies along the way, which is such an important part of these types of games in my opinion :)

Yeah it can be tough man but I think half the fun is making new friends, joining guilds and meeting new people, if we manage to drag a few friends along for the ride, even better, but if not, you will most likely meet them at end game anyway to meet back up again, if they can put the time into levelling that is ;)

This is a shared problem for many of us mate, it can be tough but we usually all meet up in the end at max level (if everyone can manage to get there) which is usually fun! Guilds are a great way to meet new like mind players int he same time zone:)

That really cool that you still play with them! It can be tough with real life getting in the way lol. I hope you are able to do it again, and I look forward to seeing you all in Pantheon! ;)

I mostly play MMORPG's with friends I make online. But I know married couples that play together and it was fun grouping with them. Not many IRL friends, though, except those you meet like at mini-conventions or local interest group gatherings.

There is a lot more couple in games these days, which I think it so awesome! :)

Family and friends! The hubby and I  have gone from MMPORG to MMPORG together, many from our long ago Asherons Call days.. Geesh.. from AC to SWG to Vanguard to SWTOR.. (yep we cried when Sony grabbed SWG.. and again when Vanguard got grabbed up) and now all anxiously awaiting Pantheon! We lose a few and gain a few each game but many of the friendships have become very solid :)

Love the friends we have made, geesh we have seen everyones kids grow up in the time we have been playing mmo's lol, with our baby daughter on our knee.. who is now 13 lol.

It was a wild weekend,  played games with a bunch of crazy aussie's and ran around with family and friends.  San Diego,  no better place on a holiday weekend.

One of the most important reasons why I play an MMO vs single player RPGs is the people. Whether new friends or old - I enjoy playing with others - a big reason why I high hopes for Pantheon.

I am very fortunate to have friends that I met online that I have been playing with for many years, some over a decade now. I started off not trusting anyone on the internet, now I send them a text message asking them to do a dungeon :) Sometimes I venture out alone into a new game if the others do not want to play it - The Secret World for example. But there is a very special thing that happens when you play an MMO with a group of people you trust, share, care about and enjoy each other's company. You do not care about the game as much as the people. It does take a lot of sacrifices, for example some of us do not play as hard as we would like to stay on keel with our other friends (which is probably better for my health ;) ) Sometimes its not the game I want to play or what I want to do, but the camaraderie more than makes up for the content. I will (and have played lol) Garbage Online just to hang with them -but we are all looking forward to making new friends in a quality, community-centric game.

That is pretty spot on for me too, although I do like some good RPGs like Skyrim, Witcher, Fallout, Dragon Age etc. but I need a good full-time MMORPG with a mature invested community, so I can dedicate time to balance it up and socialise with good people, without that balance I lose interest in a lot of games too quickly. It makes me miss the human interaction, I can only take so much AI! :)
