UNDERWRAPS

Greetings, Pantheon fans, and welcome to another edition of Underwraps. As always, we want to talk a bit more about the state of the game and what you can expect going forward.

As you know, the last few months have been dedicated to Project Faerthale, a whopper of a project. We are happy to report that the encounter we’ve hinted at is turning out as cool as we were hoping. This encounter, along with the other content you’ve already seen on livestream, allows us to show what Pantheon is at its core: a fun, exciting, hard-core MMO game focused on exploration, challenge, and deeply social gameplay. But it also demonstrates new ideas like perception, acclimation, and meaningful climbing.

The content is complete for the battle, meaning that the encounter works from start to finish. Now it’s a matter of fine tuning and polish. This includes the new character controller we spoke about last month and some more environmental details, along with adjusting difficulty and all the other little components that make up this encounter.

These important demos will be created with select press and streamers. We’re working on the setup now, and you will be the first to know once the content is ready to be seen.

While that’s going on, the team heads back in to finish the rest of Project Faerthale. Once Project Faerthale is complete and ready to go as a standalone mini-version of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, we will head into Pre-Alpha 5. There is still a substantial amount of work ahead and we will keep you as up-to-date as we can as we finish up our milestones.

Our goal is to sync PA5 up with a limited approved streamer program, drawing from some of our signups. Stay tuned as we work on the list, we’ll get in as many qualifying signups as we can. We need to make sure the numbers are going to work first and may have to do some filtering. More details on this as we get closer to PA5. You can still sign up for the program here, but be quick! We may need to close the signups soon. Remember that we are looking for solid, established channels with a good reputation and audience—simply creating a Twitch or Mixer channel is not going to get you in, sorry!

After Pre-Alpha 5, additional Pre-Alpha events may need to be scheduled as we discover new issues and features that need to be addressed; this is something that we simply cannot predict and we will announce any additional testing well in advance. We are aiming to get the rest of the data we need with PA5, but there remains a possibility that we may need to extend it. Again, in a traditional, closed studio, no one would get insight into this process at all; we’re laying it all out on the line for you.

Once our Testers inform us that we are in a solid state to move forward, we will schedule Alpha itself—not a minute sooner. We have made a commitment to quality, and we’re sticking to it.

Once again, thanks for your support and feedback at every stage.
